Actually, it's pretty easy to use. If you're not sure, you can always try the demo and then do the tutorial provided. Very friendly user interface; mouse over any buttons and it will it tell you what's it for.
By the way, which recording interface are you going to use with the software?
A number of DJs have been using it for live sequencing and live editing of tracks during their set. I suppose you just need to play around with it to get a hang of it and the boundaries are limitless!
I'm currently doing everything on Ableton Live 5. That includes recording, sequencing, DJing, performing, remixing and mastering.
I can't give an unbiased comparison to the other software, but from what I gather, it's easy to learn and very intuitive, especially for performers. Just start a couple of loops and jam along. Record what you jammed, play it back, and jam along again. Etc etc etc. A lot of possibilities.
