I ordered a SX from Rondomusic few weeks back, just for fun and cause I happened to have that extra moolah. And it arrived today.
I got this: http://www.rondomusic.com/sst57p90.html
I'm not using this as a main guitar. I'm just seeing how far S$225 can go. I have to say I'm rather disappointed though. But, it looked pretty good though!
Alright, here goes:
- It came with a nicely protected box. But thats not the main point.
- Finishing was pretty good. Can't find any flaws with it though!
- The neck pocket was.. disturbing. It looked as if it wood has been scraped off to allow the neck to fit. It was very messy.
- The pickup selector was wired wrongly.
- The volume knob had an obvious black stain on it. But the pots were fine, they turn nicely.
- The tuners were helluva tight! The ratio seemed insane man..
- Intonation wasn't set properly. Plus the 16th fret wasn't hammered properly. Argh, disturbing.
- Pickups were weak, but that's ok, I'm not expecting anything fantastic.
- Neck joint is pretty solid.
- This is the worse. It came with a missing saddle! Oh, and did I mention that the bridge looked as if it would give way any second?
So probably.. Later this week I'll bring this guitar down to Peninsula for a neck swap, pick up swap, bridge swap, or whatever I have to do to get this guitar fixed. Perhaps this may prove to be good to mod!
For that price.. Nah. I think I could have gotten something better though. Oh wells, perhaps I'm just unlucky and gotten a bad one. Heard the QC varies between every guitar. Anyone else who ordered from Rondomusic care to share your input?
