A band's Success Story

Yesterday night , For Better Endings launched their EP to a full house at Scape lab ,selling all 200 copies of their EP and all their Merchandise. They have also been signed to Gegey Music (m'sia/indonesia label ) and will launch their EP in KL next month

I write this as a very proud producer of the band having seen them grow in the studio and hope that other local bands can be inspired from their success especially cos they are a " heavy " band and there is apparently a stigma that " heavy " bands from singapore cannot make it.This is even more impressive by the fact that they are all under 20

What i've noticed from them reminds me of all the good aussie bands that i've recorded , and i think alot of the bands in singapore can learn from,is their hardworking and humble attitude ,dedication to their craft , never to scrimge on quality , the willingness to go for broke and not play it safe .

I have seen them spend many recording nights eating maggi mee when they couldn't afford to order in and loaning money plus working to pay off the recording and pressing of their cds.Their attitude in the studio was great, willing to work hard to get the takes down , open to ideas and very supportive of one another.

Hopefully this will spur other local bands to take themselves more seriously and realise that there is potential in the scene AND ESPECIALLY IN TAKING THEIR MUSIC OVERSEAS.I will try to elaborate more when i have some time off my recording schedule !

In the meantime check them out at www.myspace.com/fbecore

PS: i understand that some people here may think that this is shameless plug to promote myself and the band and i have thought it over quite a bit whether to post this up. But i feel that there is something that bands can learn from this small success story that should be shared.

yes this post should be up :) great story roland, i bet there will be a long line of other bands like them to come. they have just opened up a whole new road for the scene! haha

this shld serve as a lesson to all the posers who waste their time talking rubbish and daydreaming but then, they turn 60 yrs old and go, 'aiyah, if only ar...........'..

gd luck, gd job, shine!

Inspiring story. Hopefully, I'll be able to change my attitude to go for gold.

Good job Roland and FBE. :)

i think what he says is very true "there is apparently a stigma that " heavy " bands from singapore cannot make it". i would love to hear more bands like that from singapore.

Yes, AVA is a very good example.

From nothing, they became something.
From zeros to heros.

Kudos AVA. :-D

all the best to FBE.

Yes Roland, I totally agree with you! I'm freaking proud to be able to be friends with For Better Endings. They are such an amazing band, always giving their all in every of their shows. Having watch them progress, going to every of their shows and most of their recordings, they totally deserve what they have achieved today. So, i hope that everyone will continue supporting them with all your hearts. And for those new bands, do look up to them as an example, work hard and never give up. Bring your music out of Singapore, believe in yourselves. Cause faith and passion is what makes music alive.

With all my heart,
BOB
