hey again all!
I've been doing a lil bit of research on 7-string guitars.
I just want to know where in singapore i can find 7-stringers. Also, which brands and models are carried here. And lastly, could you all just advise me on good 7-stringers? thank you!

I'm looking for something with a floyd rose locking tremolo system, double humbuckers at bridge and neck/ H-S-H pickup configuration, 24 frets... preferably no pickguard.
My budget would be from about $700 - $1300. thanks again all!

okay lemme answer. The ibanez Korn signature K7 seven string guitar
available at swee lee for $2160. a damn good guitar.

but i feel that the price for the K7 korn signature is ridiculous... it's like way out of my budget range man... haha, thanks for the input anyway.

For sure... the Korn sign is actually a pretty fine 7 stringer.. its also the only guitar that still has the Lo Pro Edge tremolo on it, which many would say that it is a superior tremolo system to OFR and many others. Plus, you get Dimarzio pups!

Hmmm.. is this price the discounted price?

well, how about:
-RG7321 (I read the review by sub, its going for $950... swee lee pehaps?)
-JEM UV777? (haven't heard of anywhere that carries the universe guitars..)
-ESP 7-stringers? probably gonna cost a bomb though...

JEM and the RG are 7 strings? i dun tink so manz although steve vai has a 7 string one on sale at sweelee. the ESPs? costs a bomb.

ShredCow: discounted price yeah. direct frm their website.

those two are definitely 7-stringers... i checked the Ibanez webpage... also, subversion did a review on the RG7321 7-stringer... go check it out if u want.

thank you all for reading my 7string write-up 8)

currently, Ibanez has 2 7-string models offering a HSH pickup combo:

*Universe
*RG2077XL (discontinued, but still in store)

the RG2077 is a baritone 7string, if you don't down-tune, then IMO it's really unnecessary.

Personally, I would feel the Schecter C7 Hellraiser is one hell of a 7 stringer with great appointments but I haven't had a chance to test one out yet.

Get the RG1527. A good player, with a similar neck profile to that of an Ibanez Universe. It should fit nicely within your budget. The only downside is that SweeLee only brings in the ones in black. And black does get boring after a while..

As for the Korn K7, i find it ridiculously priced. You pay for yea, the dimarzio Paf 7s, and that U-bar gimmick plus an oversized ugly inlay. Sound and playability wise it's good, but where looks are concerned.... *thumbs down*

OMG KORN ROX!!! 8O

ok, well, now i'm thinking... H-H or H-S-H.... i mean, does that single coil down the middle really give you that much more versatility in terms of sound? or will putting a coil tap on the humbuckers serve out the same result more or less? i think the RG 1527 is a great candidate. what's the price like though? on sale at swee lee, can i assume?

oh, and how much is the Universe 7-stringers going for?
is the RG7321 also discontinued?

A single coil will definitely contribute to more tones. Some HH RGs come with a wiring that splits the inner coils of both humbuckers, so you can get a closer twang sound. You could of course opt for a variety of wiring options, lots of variations available involving coil taps etc to make the instrument more versatile. As for the cost of the 1527, it's somewhere between 1.2 - 1.4, shouldn't be over or less.

Universes go for close to 3.5k list? Not sure of the current prices but they're around there.

And no, the 7321 isn't discontinued yet.

My guitar has H-H and I added a coil tap switch and a phase switch... Really opens up the sound of the guitar in terms of what it can do.

But of course, if you want true blue single coil tone, nothing beats the real thing. Split hums just sound single coil-ish.

I agree with shredcow....nuting beats the real thing......
With a single coil in the middle.....u hv added an advantage.......esp....the pos 2 n 4 of he pickup selector

Its gives a very nice split sound.....good for clean tone.....

No offence to H-H pups .........its still up to u to choose if u r goin to maximise the middle pup or jus be contented by the h-h configuration....
The middle selector too gives a very cool nice clean tone.....for chordwork

Choice is your.......like wat SUB did mention before........theres no need to pay more for the extra pups dat u do not need.....

I do own a UV777.......but i would wish to hv just a single volume knob cos i dont really used the tone on the guitar.

Maybe some of us do not need the floating bridge.......dat saves alot.....

Well u can ask ard for opinion and suggestion........but my honest choice is to tyr by yourself and decide from there.......U wana be happy wif your choice

Hope dis help.....

Cheers...

thanks to all the helpful softies here! all your advice and information has really helped me tonnes... i think i'm gonna save up for a few more months before getting my seven string axe...

i find that on my rg2120 when i switch to a blend of coil splitted hums and the piezo it really creates a sort of crispy strat like sound, slightly fatter and more lush though.
