hahahhhahaha! that's what i know! the faded burst can be seen in 'sweet child of mine' is actually a les paul copy! made for him by his luther friend, or he borrowed it from his luther friend. can't remember the details. he used that same guitar for lots of the appetite recording too. he mentioned it in an interview with guitar player ages ago! wish i still have the article...

isnt the same as buying those european artists' works? u buy from that time when it was popular, i'm sure even the lesser known artists also can have their artwork sold for quite a lot. just like guitar. i mean not many ppl will have that 58 and 59 guitar so the value increases

i hope some ppl didn't think sub or me was bs when i mentioned the lp slash used for recording appetite was a copy. here is the proof, read it:

hope it is enlightening. n sorry coz i was using u thread here for this info.

yea but the luthier is dead but he has two of those guitars lol. funny, everyone's going for a gibson but slash uses a copy that in his opinion is even better.

i've seen those for sale, with the price of those les pauls, you can buy 2, yes 2 HDB houses.

the vintage PAF pickups itself, costs as much as a HDB house, if not more. its because of the hand wounding technique, no 2 PAF pickups are similar, some were overwound resulting in a hotter output and some underwound, lower output. Still, it was said these were the best sounding pickups ever made, and very sought after.

he he. it's NEVER gonna be BS as far as i'm concerned. i didn't wanna elaborate on that Slash guitar because people might see me as too anti-GIBSON, whom i'm not.

i think i'm beginning to be Slash-like (in philosophy) soon- i acknowledge Gibson's greatness while revering a Tokai...

actaulli slash had 2 59's....one was the one echoist mentioned...de other one...wich he used in november rain....the tobacco sunburst one....was acutally joe perry's one...but somehow it got stolen n ended up in some guys hands( i forgotten who) but wen slash coincentally saw it he immeditaely bot it from the guy coz he knew it belonged to joe ...and he played wif it for awhile...before giving it bac to joe perry his beloved tobacco sunburst lp as his birthday present a few years back

I heard of 59s worth at least US$250k.

N its appreciating everyday...

1. Cuz as days past, these becomes more vintage... DUH
2. CUZ GIBSON GUITARS TODAY SUCK... So the more the qc suck, the more invaluable the 59s become

vintage is not necessarily good.

i may have a 51" original fender P-bass , the one that started everything about guitars and its neck is badly warped , body rotting inside , pickups need recoiling and remagnitization , tone controls shot to pieces...

pay $250k for that ?

Well said... Not everything thats vintage is gd!

However, i got this qns in mind for v long. Alot of guitarist are constantly looking for the old vintage tone, n in the quest it, we spend alot of $ buying the eqpt (Guitars n Amps mainly. From a musical pt of view, is it gd for music? I mean its like we r not really progressing to a new level or dimension.

"Vintage" heros Hendrix n Jeff Beck rewrote the way guitar music in their days. They were playing music that were advance n "futuristic". Maybe the only few doing it today is Steve Vai.

Just a tot tho...

Wld i buy for $250k... YES, cuz its a piece of history and the price will definitely appreciate more.

tt's cool man..he bought it 4 US$500...maybe 20 something yrs back...
n now if he sells it...hehehe...
gd business huh?
