Yesterday (13 June 06) The Newpaper carried a report on a road accident involving a muso friend of mine - a lounge player by the name of Kadir "Lontong" (BTW among us malay musos we often use nic e.g. Ahmad Star, Man kopek, Man giant etc)..

I heard heard through the grapevine sometime back of his misfortune - his wife who was also his singer died at the scene while he was badly injured when a cabbie tried reversing after missing the exit to the BKE - cabbie was also found to be intoxicated at the time. They were on their way home after a gig, they have 3 small school going children. BTW this happened on the eve of Hari Raya Puasa.

As it is, working musos have ittuff to "cari makan' - now he has even more misfortune..

So very sad indeed, it just goes to show that tragedy can and will happen if people dont think of the dangers posed to themselves or others before they do something.... :(

haha..wad if there was no god??

wad if there was no heaven but eternal torment??

ok..i sound like a infidel and is disbeliever.

^yes, and it's not really the point. Haha.

It's quite sad and also very unfair for this to happen to them.

cab drivers have been really irresponsible lately man..countless times.i took bus to my destination...

as the bus was about to reach a bus stop..

the taxi overtakes the bus and comes to a halt rite in front of the bus..to pick up a passenger..

the bus almost swerved into a cement mixer..

and thank god there was no collision or else..i wud've been the first to be flung out of the window..

why...becos...the bus was very packed..and i was standing rite beside the driver..

and the thing is..taxi drivers sumhow love doin tt..it keeps happening.

is there a thrill in risking the lives of innocent passengers??

if there is den..how bout..i cut the taxi's brakes..

we'll see the thrill of it all!

Most cab drivers are irresponsible...and I say most...not all...they change lanes without signalling, they force themselves in the next lane even though the gap between the car in front and the car behind is not very big.

R.I.P for the victim of an irresponsible accident caused by a reckless taxi driver.

I guess if pedestrians and motorists can observe road safety at all times, there will be less accidents.

Fact is nobody wants to be involved in an accident!

Motorists should observe traffic rules, road courtesy, etc.

Pedestrians MUST not jaywalk. This is what usually KILLS them. Just look at the Peninsula/North Bridge Rd Junction. Pedestrian usually spill onto Coleman Street while waiting for the Green Man! An accident waiting to happen! Same for Serangoon Road/Little India during weekends. Having the steel barricades is of no use cuz the people will just climb over them.

I drive a car. My dislike: Motorbikes travelling between lane 1 and 2. I've spoken to many motorbike riders regarding this, most of them say that they have no choice (but I still don't get it). But I find this a very dangerous practice.

May God Bless the departed souls.

Ya, caused my gd friend 2 operations in his leg 2 mths ago and hes still limping now..

While I have seen cabbies doin "wonders" on the road sometimes, there are also the super slow, super cautious ah pek types...my motto - so long U get there in ONE piece....

I am concerned though of the semi frequent "race rallys" that occur on Fri / Sat ngts in town area. When I was playing at the Blues Tavern a while ago - almost one a month there would be a "race rally" along Tanglin / start of Orchard Road.... once a driver very nearly hit a stationary taxi st the taxi stand.... while I am sure these racing enthusiasts are more than capable driver, it only takes one slip up for lives to be altered dramatically & permanentely.

Drive safe / be safe everyone

bro... i ride a bike..... and one of the advantages of riding is being able to squeeze in between traffic..... i'm not saying that its good... but its a fact..... i only do so in a jam... or when i'm late.... but i do so in a safe way and i am 101% attentive to what goes around..... its not the bike, situation or condition.... its the rider..... maybe your friends were alrady late and have to rush.....

yes... they have my condolenses.....

and taxi drivers are scum..... i'm had way too many close calls to like them....

I can tell you mr azlan sometimes its not you, no matter how careful you are. Its the other reckless drivers that can f*ck you upside down.

Remember hor, its your flesh covering the bike, not the bike protecting your body...

i fully understand that..... and i can also be riding in the last lane very safely but still get fucked..... riding on a whole is dangerous.....

no paulo - not a tribute thread but i wanted to highlite road safety & how one's condition (drunk, over excited, trying to impress GF, doing things while driving etc) can affect other ppl's lives...
