Hi,

I would like to sell this piece of Taylor 614ce. It is built in 2011 and purchased from Sinamex in 2013. The back/sides are very high grade flame maple. Do also note that this piece comes with a maple neck instead of mahogany. So it looks really special. This piece is fitted with original Taylor full expression system and it comes with original Taylor hard case.

This guitars has a couple of minor dings which are not really obvious to me unless it is under direct lighting. I would rate the condition of this guitar to be 8/10.

This guitar has been set up by Malcolm Tan. The original tusq saddle was upgraded to bone saddle that was done up by Malcolm too. It is currently stringed up with Elixir nano web light gage strings.

From my observation, most players prefer mahogany and rosewood over maple. This is because maple are generally perceived to give a very bright tone. It does not have the woody tone of mahogany nor the reverb tone of rosewood. In addition, this Taylor 614 is a "blonde" guitar. Though special, it does not give the conventional guitar look; hence it is not that appealing to most players.

From my experience, maple wood don't really give a bright tone. I would say it gives a neutral, focused tone with strong fundamental notes. This guitar gives very strong bass notes too. To my perceptive, the maple result in notes to have a fast decay. This means that the notes played do not linger very long. Taylor 614ce is topped with Sitka spruce which has tone that is characterised as punchy and little overtones.

By nature of this combination of Sitka with Maple, the tone is clean, clear and crisp. It does not have too much overtones and long lingering notes. Personally, i feel that this guitar is well suited for vocal accompaniment since it does not have much overtones or long lingering notes. Too much overtones and long notes that might clash with the vocalist singing. It will probably work well for players that play in a band setting. Maple is known to cut through the music rather well. Similar, fast decay note from the Taylor 614 is less likely to clash with other instruments in the band.

I would like to sell this at $2,500. Feel free to drop me a sms/whatsapp at 9687 4373 for any other enquiries that you may have or a no-obligation testing of the guitar. I am not interested in trades. Thanks
