This particular piece has just arrived from LA and is a very fine specimen indeed. The satin-finished 60s neck is smooth and blazing fast, making lead runs comfortable and effortless. The Grover tuning keys are also excellent at holding tune. With a gear ratio of 14:1, it excels at precision tuning.

You'll notice that two particular upgrades have been made to this guitar, namely the Martin wiring harness and the Re-Wind pickup set.

Martin Six String Customs is probably the best "big" name company out there manufacturing vintage wiring kits, much better than RS Guitarworks in my experience. This particular kit is modeled after how Les Pauls were wired in the 50s, which allows for better treble retention when rolling back on the volume, unlike modern wiring harnesses. This option is also much, much better than the common treble-bleed wiring which sounds artificial in comparison and has the tendency to sound brighter as you reach the end of the volume pot's taper.

This kit features CTS Premium Custom Audio Taper 550K pots with a 9% tolerance. These are custom-ordered so that none of them read lower than 500k, feature a very responsive sweep and are tested and metered for optimal placement in each position. The tone caps used are NOS Russian mil-spec K40Y-9, paper-in-oil(PIO) caps; .015 for the neck and .022 for the bridge. These PIO caps do a marvelous job at retaining the guitar's natural tone when engaged and offer very organic and useable tones at both ends of the spectrum. The .015 cap allows for a better, more precise treble roll off for the neck pickup without it getting too dark or muddy. To top it all off, this harness is wired and grounded with vintage-correct 20 AWG bus wire.

The heart and soul of this guitar though, lies with its pickups. Re-Wind Electronics specialises in vintage-voiced pickups and excels particularly in recapturing that long lost tone and mojo often associated with 50s PAFs. Now don't let the name "High Output" fool you, these are not by any measure high output pickups of the contemporary sense. These are wound to the specs of PAFs that feature slightly higher outputs than usual, designed to make pushing the front end of that favourite amp of yours into its sweet spot easier. These pickups feature asymmetrically-wound Alnico IV magnets with a high coil offset(much like the old PAFs), giving it a very open and airy-sounding high end dripping with harmonic overtones while maintaining a solid low-end and mid-range that is very present without being overbearing.

This guitar just oozes rock; Allman Brothers, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Black Crowes, Def Leppard, KISS, Guns N' Roses, etc. This guitar can do it all and then some! It's a perfect fit for players who favour the old-school approach to playing a guitar, which focuses a lot on manipulating your guitar's controls and pick attack for varying amounts of breakup and tonal dynamics.

Final sale will of course, include the OHSC and the original Gibson factory split-coil wiring harness(mounted on a nice sheet of acrylic). The split coil harness can be utilised fully if you decide to have it dropped in as the pickups are as previously stated, of the 4-conductor variety, but I STRONGLY encourage you to try this configuration out thoroughly first before making the switch. It simply is THAT good.

Unfortunately, the original seller sold the original pickup set when the Re-Wind set was installed, so they will not be included in this sale. It is for this reason alone that this gorgeous piece is being let go for the REDUCED price of $2250. As it is second-hand I am obliged to list its condition as 9/10, but other than that it is in mint condition and is well set up with a comfortably low action and sufficient neck relief. Interested buyers may reach me at 9070 9160. Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from prospective buyers soon!
