Modernisation has contributed to the development of communication technology; the positive impacts allow people to communicate freely and openly in the shortest period of time. Rock music, with its prominent vocal melody has taken this advantage of which modernisation has provided, through the means of modern technology like the internet and media. Musicians have spread across the message concerning current issues. They showcase themselves by performing and getting the world involved by blogs and websites of which they have uploaded their videos and performances for the media and for their personal entertainment. Musicians extend their popularity by getting recognized through the number of people who view them. Furthermore, record dealers spot talents through these websites and thus, musicians start their careers.
Aims:
To expose hidden talents to be discovered
To provide a platform for budding artists to be developed
To create an opportunity for talents to be showcased
Rules and Regulations:
1. Late videos will not be entertained to ensure fairness.
2. Videos must not be longer than three minutes.
3. Videos must not contain controversial issues.
4. No plagiarism
5. No vulgarities

Judging Criteria:
(a) Creativity (5 marks)
(b) Originality (5 marks)
(c) Music (5 marks)
(d) Quality of video (3 marks)
Total marks:
18 marks
(e) Online votes (50% of total score)
Deduction of marks:
(a) Vulgarities (- ½ mark for each use of vulgarity)
(b) Over time limit (- ½ mark)
(c) Plagiarism (- 2 marks)
Prizes:
(a) Opportunity to play at Zouk on the last Tuesday of the month for a "WordForward" event.
(b) Borders music vouchers
(c) Internship at 987FM
(d) A twelve hour time frame to “jam” at a local studio
