When I come to Soft.com.sg, I see mostly guitarist/ drummers in their teens or early twenties. Where are the matured musicians in their 30s and 40s ? Have they retired ? I am in my thirties but I am so pai sey to look for band members.

Don't pei sey. I am sure there are crouching tigers and hidden dragons around.

Ha ha! 40 yr old musician here. 40 is the new 20! Either that or Soft got to start a 'Seniors/pioneer generation forum thread' May not be a bad idea!

cheers!

I cut the corners off my pioneer’s card and use them as picks, almost as good as a jazz III

HI. . Music has no barrier. . I am a grandpa. Age 80+. I still play my guitar. . So who wanna jam with grand pa?

Cheers.. inspire by Angus Young & Bobby Rich. .lol. .another pioneer generation. .haha. .

I am sure senior members can give the younger ones a good run for the money
The only problem is cannot get a common interest to jam together as the genres so variable. Perhaps like the young softies here say "must be above 21 yo". So we should say "only over 40 need apply ":p . So any seniors here want to jam for fun and not get paid ? :)

Seriously, what songs do matured ppl like to play ? I reckon I am too old for punk rock, pop punk like greenday, etc, and those hard rock even if those are my fav genre. I am now struggling to learn blues, something that is more suitable for my age. I am just starting out and I realize I am missing out a lot of good songs.

Imho, "matured people" should be around genres like bon jovi, guns n roses, journey, scorpions, rolling stones, beatles, survivor, queen, reo speenwagon, deep purple, bee gees, eagles, acdc, etc. (really spoilt for choice). Surely these are some of the most exciting and best groups in the history of music that will give most of the newer groups a big run for their money. Being matured , doesn't mean need to go the blues way, (unless u like it of course). imho, these are forever young and will always light up anytime, The new ones (apologies to the young softies here) , most of them somehow don't sound so nice. But that's of course my personal opinion. See which songs nowadays can match songs like "November rain" . Peace :)

I see lots of mature and senior as well the younger ones..bands all over internet,, since our subject are about the seniors & the pioneers generation , i guess most like the reason(s) for not able to find time to relax and "keep on rocking in the free world" is becoz most of them are not free YET,, this is not the priority to do yet,..so goes the motivation,, not becoz they have no passion, all becoz they are not so free yet,, family, kids,, still so young,, business or work to handle, overtime,,So daddy and mummy are the "responsibility" for the family,, the lucky young ones will have the time and money..and financial is the biggest part of everyone's life today,..

So yeah! what's influence you and what do you play if you have time and dollar$ to jam? I'm second to that.

Yes, the classic rock ! In fact, I grow up listening to beatles, scorpions, bits of guns n roses, led zeppelin , etc ... For blues, I may not be able to understand Robert Johnson or the song Stormy Monday but learning from the Masters are way better than memorising tabs of modern new generation bands.

Blues are not for everyone and every band,, For those who are in the bluesy music,, they just play it,, i guess is in their gene, and most part is about their growing up with their neighbourhood, we can play but still is difficult to get that "FEEL" that may find it struggling.. we play something simple like 12 bars blues for a start ,but still there is something we lack when comes the licks parts, when we play note for note,,just any rapper music,, any Asian verse the Afro-Americans, i think anyone on the street back there can do it any time far better.. firstly i guess is the way they talk, their moves and handle matters but as for the Asian,, we may,, but we still lack of the " X" factor..

Try saying "Hey man"! vs them and we vs them says :Alamak! ( if you are a local here)

Having said that,, it still practicing that make it to a near perfect,,,,(almost there) hehe! Pai-seh Pai-seh!
