PS; Composer of TAKE 5, Dave Bruebeck wrote personally to Mr Tama Goh last few days commenting his Good Drumming......Aren't we so proud of him?...Yes.sssss

Like I say - our local drummers are good lah.
 
he must have been "in heaven" for a few moments siah...

listening to tama play, i always felt a touch of brubeck and morello.. so much that i had to ask him at the last clinic if it was one of his inspirations. you don't have to guess his reply... ;)
 
Wow being commended by the pianist who played with the great Joe Morello is quite something! How did Dave Brubeck get to listen to Tama btw?

Yes BebopIg, i think we all know that. I also read that Take 5 was written for the drums so everytime i play it, i'm extra conscious.

Anyways, the very fact that Tama has relentlessly supported the percussion education circle in singapore over the last decade should tell us something about his passion and ability and lately seeing him in action at the reagent whenever i needed some jazz inspiration is just awesome!

Take 5 was written as part of a series of odd time compositions for the Brubeck album "Time Out". This classic album comprise only odd time tunes from 3/4 to 9/4 time signatures. Take 5 was not specifically written for drums but Joe Morello's interpretation and classic solo made it a drummer's icon.
 
bebopiggy thanks for correcting it. Yes I didn't know who the composer was....I thought it was Dave B (whom I also don't know who he is) kekeke..but I guess he must be a famous musician in Jazz.....Anyway I can't play Take-5 too.
