Rally Guitars: Are they still good? How do they compare to Epiphones?

Hey people. Looking to buy my first electric guitar and after trying it, the Rally GL-300 ($450) isn't so bad (for a complete beginner). Though the model I tried had fret buzz. Tried the Epiphone and it was nice too, but action was high. Can't get a good measurement.

Found posts regarding the Rally GL-300 but most of the posts were 5-6 years ago when the Rally was dirt cheap and Epiphones were ridiculously expensive. So are they still good? For people who have tried them both. How do they compare to the Epiphone Les Paul Standard ($559)? Should I get an Epiphone Instead (grover tuners, alnico pickups)

An instrument's goodness lies with playability & ultimately hearing what you want to hear upon plugging it in. I'd say disregard the brand name & embrace what works for you. These days, we tend to invest in instruments with a strong re-sale value as well but that boils down to market forces which are beyond our control.
