Home recording help!

I'm not too sure if i'm posting at the wrong section. So i recently got my own audio interface (Line 6 Pod UX2) and borrowed a condenser mic from a friend. I've got everything set up but every time i start recording, the audio levels keeps dipping - eg. at the start the vocals sound crystal clear and loud then it slowly starts dipping and start sounding distorted. I thought that it might be the problem of my recording software but after trying to record on both the Reason software (which came along free with the interface) and Protools, the same problem occurred. Does anyone knows if this is a problem with the mic or the interface or if there is any solution for this? Thanks!

One way to test is to use another microphone. Maybe something dynamic that does not require phantom power.
