Hi!
I am 20 year old aspiring drummer, playing drums for about slightly over a year now. I have been playing/practising on my electronic drums all this while (due to space constraints of my flat and noise disturbance caused:/ ) While playing on an electronic is fun and it's perfect for my situation since i stay in a hdb, I have to admit it does not have the same "kick" as an acoustic drumset. Of course, given my current situation, i will have to make do with it for now.
Over this year, I have been practising with a few books (mostly from modern drummer's 25 greatest books), from a few webbies and covering songs from bands i have been listening to. But i have come to realise i have not be improve much, especially over the past few months. I never had the perseverance or discipline to practise using drum books, and i often end up practising and recording drum covers, from bands like Phoenix, Paramore, etc.
Here are some of my covers:

Should i be doing covers at this point of time? I cant seem to get myself to practise using my books, is there another way i should be heading to improve myself? I am wary of the fact that just doing covers will not help me with my ultimate goal of being a great drummer and being in a band.
