made in indonesia, construction and workmanship are solid. the switch is 3 way: front, back and humbucking. front sounds a little hollow and produces not very well-defined mids and lows but tweaking the 3 band eq helps. the humbucking position gives a very nice growl and the mids and lows are well defined. sound is bright given the maple neck. the only thing i don't quite like is that the body is a bit too large in relation to the neck maybe i'm too used to my mij and mik soundgears. and it's really heavy and may give a shoulder ache when used for long gigs...try sitting down instead. i haven't played a ebmm stingray so can't give a comparison. but it's one of the nicer sounding ibanez basses i've owned. thinking of getting a 5 stringer if the opportunity arises.
