REVIEW OF SAMANTHA NG’S EP LAUNCH – MISSING YOU
Review by Farid “FGL” Long

TRACKS:
1. MISSING YOU
2. MAYBE
3. LET HIM GO

Samantha Ng’s maiden effort. A mini EP comprising of 3 tunes which focuses on affairs of the heart.

Samantha Ng is a young, up and coming singer songwriter brave enough to share her music with the world. Her innocent persona is mirrored in both her music and lyrics of the songs. “Missing” speaks of her longing of a lover who is no longer with her and the memories of her emotional and physical manifestations as a result of the break up. “Maybe” follows in the same vein of forlorn affection. The final track “Let him go” is perhaps the strongest track on this EP and serves as a “reply” to the title track “Missing you” about letting go of lost love and moving on with one’s life.
Samantha is clearly into the arts as a performer and as a writer. She is still in her tender years and her efforts need to be applauded.

The theme of the album is quintessentially about love and the heartaches that accompany this emotion. Samantha’s vocal delivery is quiet, somber with a touch of an oriental accent that reminded me of a young Yoko Ono. The accompanying guitar and piano work is sparse and fits her musical landscape accordingly.
