Default Buy/Sell ethics

hi...

i was wondering if you hav encounter this.. if not... do u tink these actions are appropriate??

i recently had two deals with people.... we agreed for the deal... and set place and time to deal...

however... a few days before the deal... the person smsed to say that they found a better deal and called off the deal...

i dun tink that confirming a deal... den cancel it off when one finds a better deal is a responsible way to handle buy and sell..

do you tink so too??

Nope. I disagree. That's how the 2nd-hand market goes. Putting aside the condition difference, it all depends on who is more desperate to let their stuff go. At least the buyer informed you that he is not buying your stuff. What if the buyer just kept quiet? Wouldn't that have made you even more pissed?

Anyways, we all are out seeking a better deal aren't we? A penny saved is a penny earned I'd say.

You could have tried to asked him how much better the deal was. You could have tried to match it or go a bit lower.....

as in confirm deal liao den call off... at least the buyer can make it clear that if there's a better deal... he will call it off.. and not do it after he confirms it...

Hehe... spelling error.. should be 'ethics' instead of 'ethnics'. I believe ethnic refers to race.

I agree with Oqh92. Such behaviour shows is indeed inappropriate.

Yes, we all are out for the best deal. If so, make it known when you post a buy/sell ad that it is an auction and that you will deal with the highest bidder.

If you post an item to sell at a certain price and you have agreed to deal with a person. Don't turn around and cancel the deal just because another person offers you slightly more. Your word will not mean anything. What saddens me is that people don't even realise that such actions show a blantant lack of integrity on the part of the seller.

Remember that buyer is not obligated to buy and seller is not obligated to sell. They both can just blacklist each other when things don't go their way and then start whining on the forums.

If not happy with buyers, go sell to cash converter. If not happy with sellers, go buy 1st hand.

No, the buyers & seller are not obligated to buy from / sell to each other.

Fact is if you have already come to an agreement and set a date/time to deal, then you have both verbally agreed to the deal. To call it off is basically to tell the other person that my word doesn't hold any weight. That's what I call a lack of integrity.
