Default Guitar lessons for theory and practical?

Hey guys, I am looking for a place to take lessons in guitar. I have learnt and played guitar for about 3 years now, so I do know all the basic stuff, scales, minor major, which note goes where and intervals. But I would like to further my studies in theory and maybe practical as well, and I play mainly electric guitar and acoustic guitar, contemporary stuff. But I am willing to learn some classical if needed, and I hope to take some grade, as background. Going to a music college like Berklee is my dream, and I think these are pretty necessary in getting there. Thanks loads! And if this is the wrong place, mods please move it. Thanks!

HeyJoe: While you are looking for a teacher, in the meantime I would highly recommend you check out a book called Fretboard Mastery by Troy Stetina. Great step by step approach to take one little bit at time for a several months, after which you will have about all the guitar music theory you will ever need.

Hey guys, I found the book at PageOne bookstore at Vivo City. There is also a companion book to it by the same guy called "Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar" which is also very good. Page One has lots of guitar and music related books, magazines, DVD, etc.

Plenty of good teachers around Singapore. Check out the teacher section of this forum for some recommendations.

For rock / blues lessons, I will personally recommend Justin at Excelsior Center / Peninsular Plaza complex. He is a Berklee trained teacher and is very patient and positive. Good teacher for both practical and theory. Call his assistant on 8113 4583 to schedule a lesson if you are interested.

Good luck and keep playing!

Marc
