Hi, can someone pls recommend the most user-friendly software for programming for windows. Cos i'm currently using logic and I think something gone wrong with my version and it's kinda hard to comprehend. So looking for something good yet user-friendly. Pls recommend. Thks.
Which version of Logic are you using? What is the problem? Note that only version 5 works with XP. Version 4 has some issues with installation and works better on 98 and ME.
Although it is no longer supported, it is still very powerful. There are a few things that it cannot do like Rewire. But if you don't need that, it can do almost anything else with excellent plug-ins. Tell me what the problem is. May be able to save you money. I'm still using my Logic and has not upgraded all these years, although I've been tempted to switch to Sonar a few times. It's not easy to use initially and has a steep learning curve. The manual is not too difficult to understand. Once you get the hang of it, it is extremely powerful. Did you just go it second-hand?
You can re-install your Logic if you feel something is wrong. And remember, it's better to have a dedicated PC (or at least a dedicated boot partition) just for audio purposes. Too many programs like Office, IE, games etc messes things up.
yea. got it second-hand. hmm.. seems like there r some technical faults when comes to linking with external equipments. I'm currently using a korg le. Is logic the best software to be recommended? As in user-friendly and professionally wise.
There is no "best". It all comes down to user preferences. Which version are you using? What kind of problems are you facing re: "linking external instruments"? I recall you asked the same question about yoru Korg last time. Did you try what I suggested re: creating a new environment for it? Can you at least trigger the GM sounds? If so, there is no problem.
When you get it second-hand, did it come with a super-thick manual? It should.
Hmm.. ya. That's one of the main problems. I cant trigger my korg sounds on logic. I'm using logic audio platinum 5.10. Can only use GM for recording now, which sounds quite bad. Also, upon mixdown, the gain level for each track screws up and does not sound what it seems before mixdown. So I thought there might be some problems. Nope. Only have the installation cd. got it from some online buyer. So was tinking of getting another software.
1. Did you receive a dongle with it? If not, you may have gotten a pirated copy which may explain problems, although I don't think the problem you described lies with Logic. If you don't have a dongle, then I would suggest just purchasing a new software. Already, I think the seller cheated you if it's an original software. The manual is one thick 3-ringed folder with nice padded covers. It is quite well written. That should have been included in the package he sold you - unless it is pirated. Also, is it Logic Audio Platinum, Gold or Silver?
2. The latest PC version is 5.5.1. It's no longer supported and I'm not sure if you can still find the update somewhere. You can try to google for it.
3. Even then, the problem doesn't not seem to be Logic. Since you can trigger the GM sounds, it is working perfectly. To trigger the other sound banks in Korg, you have to:
(a) download the template of Korg. I've tried very hard to look for you by googling, but I can't find it. If you have more time, you should search.
(b) even if you don't have the template, you can still make your own! As I said previously, double click on one midi track; this will access the instrument environment; on the top bar, click New -> Instruments; you get a new icon; on the left side of the environment, you can select the midi bank (midi numbers etc) that correspond with your Korg. You can access ALL the sound banks in your Korg! Shouldn't be a problem.
As for the gain level, it doesn't sound like a Logic problem either. What is the hardware you are using (soundcard)? How did you connect your Korg to your PC?
I feel the problem doesn't lie on Logic. Otherwise, you'll be purchasing another software and the same problem will exist (unless you got cheated and purchased a pirated copy). If you want me to guide you step by step on how to set up the instrument environment, pm me. Make sure you have your Korg manual around to access the midi numbers of the patches.
Ok.. I finally found the environment thingy and copied onto logic. As such, I am able to access as according to the korg bank.. BUT. the weird thing is. while the names on the banks in logic are the same, the sound produced is different. For example, when i choose e. piano, the sound produced is actually strings. Why izzit so weird?
on the triton, which mode are you on? the Sequencer mode should be the best bet. make sure you set the individual midi channel for each track in the Sequencer correctly.
