earphones?

Hey. I'm currently looking for a pair of earphones, mainly for mp3 players but also can be used for studio recording. Prefer an closed-can type of earphones, so is there any reconmendation? ppl keep saying audio technica is good but i'm a bit skeptical about it

Sure bo? MP3 + Monitoring in a mixing environment (where you'd want to do eq'ing and all that shebang)..uhmm...doesnt sound like a good idea. For listening to music for entertainment, these earphones have "enhanced" frequencies to provide one with more bass, mid, treble, or a combination to suit particular tastes. For monitoring audio, the phones should have as flat a frequency curve as possible, don't know how many times it's been mentioned here already.

But yes, the monitoring headphones are not as good as true monitor speakers, i.e they still have a few bumps in the low-end or mid-range so maybe you may like them in an entertainment situation: http://www.headphone.com/technical/p.../build-a-graph

In the studio, headphones are normally used to provide the recording musicians with a separate feed of an audio stream. When it comes to mixing/monitoring, they're used to isolate and scrutinize minute details such as reverberation in an effect, delays, latency, stereo image etc.

if you want earphones for mp3 i suggestyou go to jaben at adelphi. opposite funan. 4th floor. i stayed there for 5hrs deciding on whcih earphones to buy. serious stuff man.
