Default Line 6 Pod or port?

Hi everyone,

A few questions here.

Would like to set up a little facility to do some simple recordings at home. Primarily a guitar player, but would like to explore putting together songs, layering, mixing, sequencing, etc.

Was looking at a few interfaces, and have used the line6 toneport ux2 at someone else's place before. quality of sound from such a software is good enough for me, if going through decent monitors.

Would like to know if the line 6 pod xt live supports an input into a pc for recording. Also, would it support recording programmes like ableton live lite, etc? Consideration is to have a functionable recording facility at home, where i can record guitars, bass, vocals, or any other inputs, and have a computer based interface to mix on. Also would like if i could bring it out to gigs as a multi-efx processor, but that is just a bonus, not a necessity in my consideration.

Or is the line6 toneport range better suited to do recording?

Any feedback or suggestions welcomed and appreciated.

you're your own best judge. if it sounds right to you, go ahead with either. I've heard of recording done on podxt live (just cos it says "live" doesn't mean you can't use it for recording) or any other "guitar pedal".

as for pod xt live whether supporting an input into pc for recording you might wanna read up on the line6 website on the specs of it.

but keep in mind you can't exactly plug an xlr mic into the pod xt live. you may need to consider buying an audio interface with XLR preamps etc unless you're doing purely guitars.

10¢ worth

Pod xt live is a xt.
its built that you can bring it out for gigs.
toneport can record more stuffs if u would prefer.
Mic/guitars/bass/i use it for a preamp for my synthesizer as well.

If you're a bedroom ninja, toneport is more worth it because its cheaper and functions.

If you're a gigger, xtlive is best.
unless u wana bring ur laptop down to the gig.
haha

Pod xtlive can go straight into a computer too. Through a USB 1.0 if im not wrong.
yeah check it out at their website.

hi, thanks for the quick reply.

have looked at their website, it does have usb connection to a computer, but I don't know if it can run in such a function or if its just to sync the patch, etc. wondering if anyone has used it to record off ableton live, etc.

xlr inputs might be a consideration.. thanks!

Yea, i agree with what Ahjon said.. I own a toneport and have been doing my recordings with ableton.. You can check out the quality of the recordings at http://www.myspace.com/roadkillspore

Im new to the mixing stuff so i believe it can be further improve.. In my opinion the toneport is a reliable piece of interface for its price...

Hope this helps..

Welcome to the club, Line 6 enthusiast!

Judging from what you have posted, I would say to go for Toneport. The XLR mic input will allow you to have the extra option of micing your favourite amps should you feel the need arises
