Default Good Vocal Mic

Good vocal mic for home recording purposes? Nothing too expensive with a budget of $300 - $400... Any recommendations??

I'll be running it through a M-Audio Firewire solo.

well, suppose you are looking at LDC. if so, i've read good reviews on: -

1. Sterling Audio ST77
2. Studio Projects C1
3. Studio Projects B3
4. MXL Marshall V67G
5. Rode NT1
6. Audio Technica AT4033

google these mics to see their various strengths and weaknesses and whether it suits the vocal type you are using it for. Studio Projects has a new range out but I don't know their pricing. LOOKS interesting. cheers

imo home recording, juz go for a shure sm58, the noise level would be lower than those mic mention. Althought those mics mention above might be relatively gd mics but u might be picking up more noise than a normal dynamic mics.

I agree. Go for Shure SM58. Definitely great for vocal because of its relatively flat response. Should less than $150.
