Default recording device..

what recording devices do you guys use when wanting to record your band's music when jamming, etc??

it'll be great if you could provide the pricing and also why you feel your choice should be the only choice when individuals, decide to record their music?

this would definitely serve as a source of info for all visitors to this thread.

If you are thinking of using the answers replied to this thread as a guideline to what recording devices would be great for your own use, best to have this in the Sound-Gear section. Plenty of examples can be found there as well. Just need to dig a bit.

Anyway, I use Line 6's Toneport. Upgraded from a UX2 (second hand cost me $250 a while back) to KB37 (cost me $400+ brand new, also a while back). NOT something that I would take for jamming (perhaps the UX2 is ok, if you are thinking of recording to laptop straight, but not advisable. It's more towards home recording (you DID say 'etc' )

Nah.. I don't feel that my choice is the ONLY choice. A matter of preference, really. There are some who SWEAR by old school analogue tape...

EDIT: Ah, I just saw Rotten's post of a link you could visit.

my sec sch fren 'gave' me a cool recording device.

he used to be in a bhangra dance group.

i had fun the day i got it.

i recorded myself screaming, shouting and all.

however, when i transferred to my laptop, it sounded very weird.

i've been trying the Adobe audition.

quite pleased.http://www.adobe.com/products/audition/

What recording device is that?

Sometimes, it's not the recording device which is at fault. You have to consider a lot of other factors: mics, mic placement, sound source, acoustics etc.

Sounds like it might be a distortion issue when you overload the inputs to your recording device. What device are you using anyway?
