If you are thinking of using the answers replied to this thread as a guideline to what recording devices would be great for your own use, best to have this in the Sound-Gear section. Plenty of examples can be found there as well. Just need to dig a bit.
Anyway, I use Line 6's Toneport. Upgraded from a UX2 (second hand cost me $250 a while back) to KB37 (cost me $400+ brand new, also a while back). NOT something that I would take for jamming (perhaps the UX2 is ok, if you are thinking of recording to laptop straight, but not advisable. It's more towards home recording (you DID say 'etc'

Nah.. I don't feel that my choice is the ONLY choice. A matter of preference, really. There are some who SWEAR by old school analogue tape...
