Default Yamaha YUS5 or U1

Hihi...

Like to get one of the above for my kid, yamaha sale is on... but know not which would be a better choice. Of cos my boy prefer the YUS5 for the look, not sure its wont the $4k difference. Please throw in your thoughts, technically, which would be a better option.

Thanks alot!!

Always go for the best...

I think YUS5 is also a upright grand...meaning there is a sustenuto pedal in the middle....which the U1 does not have..

Also the YUS5 comes with a front soundboard, creating an ambience effect like grand piano..

If i have intention of upgrading to a grand next time....i may just buy the U1.....if not..i will go for the
YUS5..once and for all...

but also depending very much in the passion of the child..

My 2 cents...hehe

Another thing is why Yamaha? Kawai piano sounds better to me...

Better check around for unbiased feedback...before committing...

Hope that helps..

Thanks lester_music,

Since I don't have the necessary knowledge, thought yamaha would be an alright option. Just want to ensure that the chosen one is lesser of the 2 evils...

Thanks!!

I like Kawai better too. K8 is very nice, and to me, sounds better than YUS5.

But between YUS5 or U1, the difference is the bass response. U1 has less bass, so depends on whether you want to hear more or less bass when your kid is playing.

Most pianists perform on a piano other than their own, so as long as the keys are working fine, and the sound quality is reasonable, don't worry too much about it. Both are considered very good pianos already for beginners.

Yamaha kind of thiny and bright..
