Default Need help! connecting synthesizer to audio interface!

Hi guys, am facing a big fat problem which i haven been able to figure out for the past few days. Just bought a Yamaha Motif XS8 and it will be delivered to my house on sat.

Am thinking of buying the Firepod too, as I would like to record the keyboard, voice, guitar and bass simulataneously to distinct tracks. As for the connections for mic, guitar and bass, it shld not be a prob. main problem comes when i need to connect the keyboard to the firepod. Am not quite sure how to go about doing it. Am building a mixerless homestudio btw.

The Motif XS8 can connect directly to the PC via Firewire or USB 2.0 and also has S/P DIF Digital Output. Was actually planning to connect the motif to the firepod via the conventional way, plug it into 2 inputs. But apparently there seems to be some imcompatibility issue with presonus audiointerfaces as mentioned in this website.

Its pretty short.... but i dun quite understand it myself as i am kind of new, hope that some one would be kind enough to enlighten me, as i would not want to waste $$ on an audio interface that wouldn't work well with my motif.

More info on motif xs8: MOTIF XS

If you are sending the audio out from Motif into the FirePod, there is no way why it wouldn't work.

Deh, that incompatibility issue on that forum is entirely about user error. I don't have a motif and not sure about mLan, but just hook everything up into it's own firewire port, without hooking up the motif to the firepod, because if you do that then you'll need to hook up midi as well as audio. But then you'll probably need to hook up the audio from the motif to the firepod as well, if the motif FW doesn't transfer audio.

it will all be apparent once you get the equipment.

If you want to record the Motif all you need to do is hook up s/pdif or analog outputs to the corresponding Firepod inputs and enable the specific audio inputs in your audio processing software or sequencer. This is the same thing you would do if you were recording a guitar/vocal.

Midi connection is not required. Motif usb or mLan connections are not required either.
