Default Nord Stage Piano

Don't know if anyone caught sight of this new stage piano from Nord - now only prototype but out in Musikmesse.

One thing good about Nord - they don't add other fancy stuffs. Keyboard is keyboard - no drums/ bass/ guitar etc. I like their focus. I can never see why stage pianos need guitar sounds.

Besides having the essentials (piano, organ, synth, effects like Leslie and Wah etc), the drawbar emulation looks interesting - classic of Nord (although I would prefer real drawbars). I think the most interesting thing is that for the first time a stage piano has a piano with pedal up and down samples + release samples. So far, only softsamplers had that power to do it. However, the video from Harmony Central didn't sound too impressive. But again, the person didn't play much of the piano and the sound wasn't too great when streamed over the internet.

I would love to try out the piano sound to see how they fare with the softsamplers.

Oops. Sorry, forgot the link. And I shouldn't say Nord - it really should be Clavia.

Here it is:

The Harmony-Central Video link is:

It is only prototype currently. Should be out in a few months - then take more time before it arrives in Singapore.

Very interesting. I thought Clavia is only producing analog synth

Saw the video, It would be easier to manipulate the patches real time with that stage piano.

I love the B3 hammond organ sound

Looking forward to trying it out.

you mean the one which sells 2nd hand guitars beside macs?

i once saw a nord synth going at around 3k there...

i guess you can expect the price of the Clavia to be above your average synth price considering the amout of new functions being introduced into the Clavia that no other synth has done before....

Another possible (unsolvable) problem with it (and also with most stage pianos) is that weighted keys are hard to play B3 with. But then if it becomes unweighted, people will complain that they want weighted for the piano sounds.

Maybe one day, somebody will make a keyboard that switches the mechanics of the keys from weighted to unweighted by simply a push of a button...
