Speaking of Mesa, I prefer the lower wattage and slightly lower gain ones (old skool lah). More suitable for home use. If got chance, I certainly like to try out the Express 5:25 combo (new 1x12 version) and the LoneStar.

Like my 25w Studio.. Good enough for home, high potential for stage. Low gain? they are not low man. All the express, f series, which are decendants from the caliber series, are of MESA's dyna-watt technology. Bro - 6 12ax7 pre-amp tubes and 2 EL84 power tubes, couple it with your favourite drive pedal, and you are ready to go! You need space to crank up though, as of any other tube amp...

You want old-skool.... Get an Orange Rockerverb 50 LOL.... I have one and it nails any old skool tone that's why i yearn for a higher modern sounding gain amp along the line of a Dual Rect. I still need a pedal on my Orange for modern sounding distortion which kinda sucks.
