Default Live Performances: Your Setup WOES!!!

On my 10,000th post, I'd like to .... post a new THREAD!

We all get gear, we all play with gear and we all use gear...

But the key thing is using the gear right?

So...

Lets share some experiences when it comes to setting up for that big gig... some boo boo you made... some oversight you had... a misplaced wire... a battery-less pedal... an amp that wasn't turned on.... vol knob on guitar off... you know... the silliness of it all.

And yes, this is so others can learn to watch out of some of the less obvious mistakes...

Here's mine.

Setup pedalboard. Plug in to amp. Plug guitar to board. Check amp. Check board. Turn on board. Turn on amp. Play. Shrill shrieky sound. Like WTH? Tweak amp... set treble on amp to like 9 oclock (?!) and then proceed to play... keep wondering why the hell is my tone so compressed, so thin and shrilly whether with dirt or clean.

Check all pedals settings.

Check amp again.

Check cables.

Check guitar.

#$%?@!

Out of frustration, finally check the wah.

Bloody wah pedal.

Lesson Learnt: Wah pedal should have LED. Or at least, I should have stepped on it 1st to make sure its OFFFFFFFFF.

hahaha.

i pretty much went through the same check procedures before discovering my boo-boo.

plug guitar into board. board into amp. switch on board. everything's good to go. let down the vol pedal.....eh no sound

counter check. amp is on. tubes are cooking.

forgot to switch on standby switch.

oops.......

Haha there was once, just right before the gig, plug guitar into board, then into amp. Stepped on Boss DD3, the LED was soooo dim, and I had to start the gig already. Was using batteries back then, so yeah.. Was praying throughout my set that the battery would have enough power to last me through the gig!

It's stuff like this that make me go for a less complicated set up.

Cow, you troll too much.

mine was..

Plugged in everything.. the sound was super duper muddy and trebleless, I thought it was the amp so I turned up the treble and I couldnt get the sound right. So went thru checking all the pedals again. everything was fine.

The problem was... my tone knob. was down to zero. very dumb but yes things happen.

No no.... I'm very biased. I would make for a bad mod in SOFT's context.

And you're welcome. So much talk about gear, we need to talk about how to use it too... and using it comes with troubleshooting.

I want to hear your setup WOES.
