Default Bass Amp Megathread

Since more and more people are getting into the whole amp business, I figured it might be better to create a separate thread for bass amps so we don't have to clog up the effects thread with our junk

So I'll kick it off... some gear from our recording sessions:

Marshall JCM800 Bass Amp or Aguilar AG500SC into 4x12(?) cab, Sennheiser MD421 mics not shown (Mesa Dual Rec is for guitarrer)

Direct recording rig — Aguilar DB924, A-Designs REDDI, Aguilar AG500SC to board (I use a Zvex Box of Rock if I want JCM-style overdrive):

Gotta love that studio... you know it's a good one when Josh Wan runs it. The Marshall bass amp is ridiculously loud! Non-master volume means it only really opens up when you need to wear earplugs, but the resulting tone is insanely thick :$

amp thread... well it's about time!

if the shuttle is humble then we must be in expensive territory. let's wait for some of the heavyweights in these forums to start posting. in the meantime, my extremely lightweight rig:

Markbass Little Mark 250
Phil Jones Bass Buddy
Hartke 210TP

in the past few months my fx chain shrank while these things started appearing...

i got it from 3notesabar for 590... which was a pretty good deal

i don't think it would be overkill lah... if you were to audit all your gear that you could actually do without... you'd be left with very little. and anyway it's an investment that will pay dividends if there ever comes a time when you need to bring your own rig to a gig

i wish it had a headphone out though. but well, thats a job for the bass buddy

maybe i will sell them both to get a markbass F1 or one of the amps cherns plans to bring in... you see, you start off getting something you think you don't really need... and then you realise it's not enough

IF u're looking at hartke, do check out the LH500 and LH1000 at city music. =) Simple heads with impressive sound.

the price tag there says 600 .. but i was quite pleasantly surprised when i asked for a quote on the 4x10" hydrive cab... (after hearing the quoted price vs the sticker price.) No harm trying... =)

the list price is far higher than the actual retail price. i don't quite understand the practice though, we are a pretty enlightened bunch and its easy for us to check overseas street prices and then make some provisions for shipping etc...
