Wat effect to buy?

Hi all softie. I am wanting to start to buy effects for my bass. But totally know nuts about wat is wat and stuff. So any recommendation about wat effect should 1 get. 1st effect.

i play basiclly rock and alt. So i'm actually looking for effects that can kinda enhance the sound and sort of make it rounder and more bassier..

Like Lordie's suggestions. You're basically looking at a preamp/eq/OD kinda pedal.

Another suggestion would be the the Barber Linden or the Tech 21 VT Bass.

i would say preamp, eq and compression are not true blue effects per se lah... that one more to sweeten the tone

REAL effects would be filters, modulation, delay and drive. but that will be later lah... effects are a slippery slope
