Impresario is an annual nationwide talent search competition organized by Nanyang Technological University Cultural Activities Club. The objective is to promote the local arts scene by giving music and dance enthusiasts a platform to showcase their talents. In its 17th year running, Impresario has become one of the main channels of emergence of talents in Singapore.
Impresario has been well-received by turnouts of more than a 1,800-strong audience every year and boasts of guest appearances by popular personalities such as Celest Chong, Peggy Hsu, Joi Chua and Hong Junyang in previous Impresarios. Amongst the previous judges, there were local celebrities such as Wu Qing Kang, Lee Wei Song, Lee Si Song, Tang Yu Xuan, Kenn Wu, Jack Teo and Peter Tan. Singapore Idol Finalists – Candice Foo and Maia Lee – and Project Superstar runner-up – Kelly Poon –, who were once Impresario Finalists, have also graced Impresario as Guest Artistes and awed our audiences with their wonderful performances.
Last year, Impresario 2008 received overwhelming registrations, with Impresario 2008 Grand Finals held at MediaCorp TV Theatre attracting more than 750 spectators. Our guest artiste for Impresario 2008 was Kelly Poon, and for the year before was Angela Zhang Shao Han.
