Good bass guitar for beginners?

Alright so I wanna learn the bass and I'm thinking of getting one. What is a good and cheap brand for me to consider, with a buget of about $300? And also how is a Timbre PB-800?

hmm 300 can get a 2nd hand ibanez SRX/ SR series bah? Quite common so maybe you can get it ^^ Timbre is a budget good quality brand, good for beginners and maybe any level of players... I don't know why many people didn't choose Timbre as their 1st geetar xD Maybe it hasn't hit the market yet
