but for my recommendation,
it would be cort.

cause i like cort.
the artisan series should be within your budget.
i bought mine at the sweelee sale for 450bucks.

I would rather go with a P first, but I do agree that Jazzes are very versatile creatures. If you do find yourself playing with a pick quite a lot, a P would have a great tonal palette that is suited to your playing style.
