Default Need Advice on My Bass

Hi, I bought an ESP Ltd B-10 Bass Kit last 23 March 2008 from Davies. Tell you, the sound when i tried it in their shop was acceptable as it was tried on a big amp. Tried it with the amp at the church, still sounds ok, but a bit weak as when the whole band starts to play, you could no longer hear the bass.

Last night, i replaced it with an Ernie Ball Flatwound strings and it sounds just right for my taste, round and punchy.... now the problem is... still it's a bit weak....

Will changing the stock ESP pick up will make the sound much better or louder? Planning to get the Seymour Duncan SPB-2. Will active pick-ups do some difference? but i don't want to use active pick-ups as i'm very pessimist about the battery running flat.

any suggestions.

make volume louder?

also, what music are u playing? if u want more zing and volume, get roundwound strings. about $30.

1. changing the pickups might not necessarily make it louder or even "better". the better part is particularly subjective.

2. if you're going to get active pickups eventually, just keep a spare 9V battery in your gig bag. doesn't take much effort (:

3. when you say that you could no longer hear the bass with the rest of the band in church, is that coming from the audience, or is your monitor simply not loud enough? (:

4. do take note that playing at a different venue with a different amp would produce VERY different results.

Will think about this one.

band members, have'nt got any feedback from audience. actually, i asked the technician to put more volume through the monitor but still a bit weak.

4. do take note that playing at a different venue with a different amp would produce VERY different results.

previously using roundwound strings, i prefer sound coming from the flatwound one.

volume on bass up to max...

usually church, pop and country music

i prefer the sound of the flatwound than the round wound that's why i shifted, previously using roundwound ones.

Then you need a bigger amp.
